Daniel Demoys is an alcoholic mess who has been suffering from blackouts during his binging sessions. One night, after recovering from one such gap in his memory, he realizes he has beaten a man into a coma.
Daniel is now mayor, and Henry Pulis has died in hospital. The deceased's daughter Ruth is keen to find out exactly what happened to her father, and approached Daniel for help. He supports her in a bid to keep his secret.
